About Agistros Beach
Agistros is a stunning sandy beach on Skiathos’s western coast, approximately 15 km from Skiathos Town. It sits between Mandraki and Elias, sharing the same wild, green, and undeveloped character that defines the island’s western shoreline. What distinguishes Agistros is the particular intensity of its green surroundings — the hills behind the beach are thick with vegetation, creating a lush, almost tropical backdrop against the golden sand and turquoise water.
Getting There
By Land
Reachable only by rough dirt tracks from the island’s interior. 4x4 or quad bike recommended. The route is challenging and poorly signposted. Most visitors never attempt the land route.
By Boat
Agistros faces west, set into a gentle cove. From Skiathos Port, a 30HP rental boat reaches Agistros in approximately 45–50 minutes following the north and west coast. The beach is visible from the water by its distinctive green backdrop — you cannot miss it.
Transfer
A transfer from Skiathos Town takes about 35–40 minutes. Cost: approximately €50–65.
The Beach
Agistros is approximately 200 metres of golden sand with clear, turquoise water. The beach is partly organized — a seasonal beach bar provides the essentials — but retains a natural, undeveloped feel that’s increasingly rare on Skiathos.
Facilities
- Sunbeds and umbrellas (limited, €8–10 per set, seasonal)
- Seasonal beach bar with drinks and snacks
- No full restaurant
- No showers
- Natural shade from the hillside vegetation
The Setting
The green hills that gave Agistros its character are genuinely spectacular. In spring and early summer, the vegetation is at its most vibrant, and wildflowers add colour. The beach is surrounded on three sides by these hills, creating a natural enclosure that makes it feel like a private island.
Boat Anchoring Tips
The cove is reasonably sheltered. Anchor in 3–5 metres on sand. Like most west-coast beaches, it’s best visited in calm conditions.
Nearby Beaches to Combine

- Mandraki (2 km east, 8 minutes by boat) — larger sandy beach with a taverna
- Kechria (4 km east) — pine-backed cove with excellent snorkelling
- Krifi Ammos (4 km west) — very isolated sandy beach
