Mikri Banana Beach Skiathos: The Naturist's Secluded Paradise

About Mikri Banana

Mikri Banana (Little Banana) is the smaller, quieter sibling of Banana Beach, located just 300 metres west along Skiathos’s southwestern coast. It’s approximately 14 km from Skiathos Town. While Banana is famous for its party scene, Mikri Banana has carved out a reputation as Skiathos’s premier naturist beach — a well-organized, relaxed, and judgment-free zone where clothing is entirely optional.

Getting There

By Land

There is a footpath from Banana Beach (5-minute walk along the coast through the pine trees) or from the Koukounaries area. It’s not signposted as prominently as other beaches, which contributes to its secluded feel. The path involves some uneven ground.

By Boat

Mikri Banana faces southwest into a small cove adjacent to the larger Banana bay. From Skiathos Port, a 30HP rental boat reaches Mikri Banana in approximately 40–45 minutes. The approach is the same as Banana Beach — the smaller cove is just to the west.

Transfer

A transfer from Skiathos Town takes about 30 minutes. Cost: approximately €40–50.

The Beach

Mikri Banana is approximately 100 metres of sand — small, intimate, and sheltered. The water is clear and shallow. The beach is well-organized despite its size, with quality sunbeds and a beach bar that’s become something of a local institution.

Facilities

  • Sunbeds and umbrellas (€10–15 per set, high quality)
  • One beach bar with full drinks menu and food service
  • No watersports (the peace is the point)
  • Showers

The Atmosphere

Mikri Banana is defined by its relaxed, naturist-friendly ethos. There’s no pressure and no judgment — some visitors are nude, others are not. The unspoken rule is respect and relaxation. The beach bar plays chilled music at a volume that doesn’t dominate. It’s the antithesis of Banana’s high-energy party scene next door.

Boat Anchoring Tips

The small cove offers some shelter. Anchor in 3–5 metres on sand. The cove is small — space is limited, especially in peak season. You can also anchor in the larger Banana bay and walk to Mikri Banana (5 minutes along the coastal path).

Nearby Beaches to Combine

  • Banana Beach (300m east, 2 minutes by boat or 5-minute walk) — for party atmosphere and facilities
  • Koukounaries (1.5 km east) — the island’s most famous beach
  • Agia Eleni (1 km west) — organized beach with a quiet western end
  • Xenia (1.5 km east) — quiet beach near Koukounaries

What Sea Skiathos Offers

Best Time to Visit
