Banana Beach at a Glance
Banana Beach (sometimes called Krassa Bay) is Skiathos’s premier party destination. Located on the southwestern tip of the island, 13 km from Skiathos Town, it’s a long sandy beach backed by pine forests with a vibrant, youthful atmosphere. If Koukounaries is the family favourite, Banana is the adrenaline alternative.
Getting There by Land
Banana is the final stop on the island bus route — Stop 26 (same stop as Koukounaries, then a 5-minute walk down a path through the pine forest). The bus from Skiathos Town takes about 35 minutes. There is limited parking if you drive. The walk down is steep in parts but shaded.
Why Arrive by Boat Instead
Banana faces directly southwest and is open to the Aegean. The bay is broad with a sandy bottom — easy anchoring. Arriving by boat means:
- No crowded bus in peak season
- No parking stress
- Direct beach access — your boat becomes your personal base with shade, drinks, and a place to retreat from the midday sun
- Easy hop to Mikri Banana (300m west by water, inaccessible by land)
- Combine with Koukounaries and Agia Eleni in a single day trip
Anchoring
Drop anchor in 4–8 metres over sand, about 60–100 metres offshore. The bay can get a swell if the wind is from the south or southwest, but those winds are rare in summer. In the prevailing northerlies, Banana is well protected.
Rental Boat Access
From Skiathos Port, a 30HP boat reaches Banana in 40–45 minutes following the south coast. You’ll pass 10+ beaches along the way, making it an excellent day-trip route.
Transfer
A transfer from Skiathos Town takes roughly 25 minutes and costs approximately €40–55.
The Beach Experience
Atmosphere and Crowd
Banana attracts a younger, livelier crowd. The beach bars play music all day, ramping up into late afternoon parties. The southern section is more active; the central area has sunbeds and umbrellas; the northern end is slightly quieter.
Facilities
- Sunbeds and umbrellas (€10–15 per set)
- Two beach bars with full food and drink menus
- Volleyball net on the beach
- Showers
Jet Ski & Parasailing
Banana Beach is our main base for jet ski hire and parasailing. Our experienced team runs high-speed jet ski sessions in a dedicated zone offshore, and our parasailing boat departs regularly, offering the best aerial views of the southwestern coast.
Mikri Banana (Little Banana) — The Quieter Sister
Just 300 metres west, accessible by a coastal path or by boat, lies Mikri Banana (Little Banana). This smaller, more secluded beach is famously nudist-friendly and has a completely different atmosphere — quiet, relaxed, and naturist-oriented. One beach bar serves drinks and light food.
From your boat, you can anchor between the two and enjoy both worlds — the energy of Banana and the tranquility of Mikri Banana.
Combining Your Banana Beach Boat Trip
- Start at Banana (arrive early for the best anchoring spot)
- Hop to Mikri Banana (5 minutes by boat or a short walk)
- Koukounaries (5 minutes east by boat, visible from Banana)
- Agia Eleni (3 minutes west by boat)
- Stop for lunch at a seaside taverna near Koukounaries

Best Time to Visit
- June and early July: Warm water, lively atmosphere, but not overwhelmingly crowded.
- Late July and August: Peak party season. The beach is packed and noisy. If you want the party, this is the time. If you want peace, go early morning or late afternoon.
- September: Still warm, less crowded, but the bars may have reduced hours.
- Weekdays: Slightly quieter than weekends, though the difference is marginal in high season.
