Koutsouri (Diamanti) Beach Skiathos: The Diamond of the South Coast

About Koutsouri Beach

Koutsouri — also known locally as Diamanti (Diamond) — sits on Skiathos’s south coast, approximately 9 km southwest of Skiathos Town, between Kolios and Troulos. It feels worlds apart from its neighbours. With clear blue water, lush green surroundings, and no facilities, it’s one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches on the island.

Getting There

By Land

A narrow, steep footpath leads down to Koutsouri from the main coast road. The path is not well signposted and requires some scrambling. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. The walk down takes about 10 minutes.

By Boat

This is the easiest and most rewarding way to visit. Koutsouri faces south into a small, secluded cove. From Skiathos Port, a 30HP rental boat reaches Koutsouri in approximately 25–30 minutes.

Transfer

A transfer from Skiathos Town takes about 20 minutes. Cost: approximately €30–40.

The Beach

Koutsouri is approximately 100 metres of sand and pebbles in a compact, deeply green cove. The water is exceptionally clear and intensely blue — hence the nickname “Diamanti.” The cove is completely non-organized, with no facilities whatsoever.

Facilities

  • None — no sunbeds, no umbrellas, no bar, no toilets
  • Natural shade from the surrounding vegetation
  • Bring everything you need: water, food, shade, and sunscreen

The Diamond Appeal

What makes Koutsouri special is its untouched quality. The surrounding greenery is lush and dense, the water is among the clearest on the south coast, and the lack of facilities keeps it genuinely quiet. It’s a beach for people who want a natural, undeveloped experience.

Snorkelling

The rocky edges of the cove are excellent for snorkelling. Visibility is typically 10–20 metres. The underwater rock formations around the headlands support a healthy marine ecosystem.

Boat Anchoring Tips

The cove is small and offers good shelter. Anchor in 3–5 metres. Space is limited — 2–3 boats maximum. Arrive early.

Nearby Beaches to Combine

  • Kolios (1 km east, 3 minutes by boat) — sandy cove with a traditional taverna
  • Vromolimnos (1.5 km east) — popular beach bars
  • Troulos (2 km west) — sheltered family beach
  • Agia Paraskevi (3 km east) — large organized beach

What Sea Skiathos Offers

  • Self-drive no-license boat rental: 25–30 minutes from port. The perfect undiscovered cove for a private swim.
  • Skippered hidden-cove tour: Your captain knows every secret cove on the south coast — Koutsouri is a highlight.
  • Water taxi: Direct transfers to this elusive beach.
  • Snorkelling gear: Available with all rentals.

Best Time to Visit

  • Morning: Calmest water. You may have the cove entirely to yourself.
  • June and September: Warm water, minimal other visitors.
  • July–August: Still quiet compared to organized beaches, but the footpath does bring occasional visitors.
  • Calm days: The cove is sheltered but check the forecast.
